The Warsaw Rotary Club finalized their 59th annual Salvation Army Day at their meeting on Friday, Jan. 3 by announcing that $72,000 had been raised. The event held every December collects financial donations and toys to support The Salvation Army, not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. The first effort was organized by N. Bruce Howe to honor Brigadier Brice Phillipson and was called Brice's Day, raising just under $1,000. John R Hall later joined Howe as co-chair. "There are no words except ‘thanks’ to the Rotarians for their support each year. The amount of requests for assistance have increased this year so this will greatly help us in reaching out to those in need," said Envoy Ken Locke, Salvation Army administrator.
