Ivy Tech Community College Warsaw announced a new opportunity to help launch CNC machining careers in the “Orthopedic Capital of the World.”
The NIMS CNC Operator program lets participants explore the key foundational practices of Computerized Number Control (CNC) machine operation in 13 weeks, according to  a news release from Ivy Tech.
Starting March 17, classes will be held in-person from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center (OAMTC) on Ivy Tech Warsaw’s campus. It will run through Jun. 11. Tuition to the program is $3,000, but it could be free through NextLevel Jobs.
On completion of the program, participants will finish with a certificate of completion plus NIMS operator Certificate Level 1 (Milling and Turning), which is recognized industrywide. It’s all part of Ivy Tech’s Skills Training initiatives that aim to help working adults quickly skill-up in their careers.
“Skills training equips individuals with the knowledge to excel in evolving industries,” said Joe McMichael, vice chancellor of Ivy+ Career Link. “It bridges workforce gaps and fuels economic growth in communities."
This course is open to the community, applying to the college beforehand is not required. Community members interested in this course and other skills training courses can contact Ivy Tech Warsaw at 574-267-5428 or visit Miller Hall, 2545 Silveus Crossing.
