Nancy D. Shaffer, of Warsaw, passed peacefully on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Grace Village Retirement in Winona Lake at the age of 84.
Born on Dec. 25, 1940, in Charleston, W.Va., she was the daughter of Robert and Louvera Greene Daugherty. Nancy's life was marked by unwavering faith and a deep commitment to caring for others.
Nancy graduated from high school in Long Island and furthered her education by attending some college courses. She worked as a medical secretary before enjoying her well-deserved retirement. Her dedication to her work was matched only by the love she shared with her family and friends.
On Oct. 7, 1989, Nancy married Michael Alan Shaffer. Together, they nurtured a household filled with music and joy. The two musicians even played their own recession at their wedding. Nancy took great pride in her role as a mother to her daughters, Deborah, Rebekah and Sarah.
Nancy was not only a nurturing figure within her family but also lit up the lives of those around her with her kindness and her love for the Lord. She found joy in playing the piano, often sharing her musical talents with others and bringing happiness to those fortunate enough to hear her play.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Michael Shaffer; her daughters: Deborah Sager, Rebekah (Michael) Hackelton and Sarah (Matthew) Schmidt; her eight grandchildren; her great-grandchild; her sister, Judy Carlson; and her brothers, Robert (Jolene) Daugherty Jr. and John (Bonnie) Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of Nancy. A celebration of life is being planned for a late date.
