A North Webster man was arrested after allegedly forcing another man’s vehicle to stop and then hitting the driver.
David William Akridge, 32, of 6127 N. CR 950E, North Webster, is charged with criminal confinement, a level 6 felony; battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; and battery, a class A misdemeanor.
Akridge was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:14 p.m. Wednesday on a $12,500 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, at approximately 6:28 p.m. Wednesday, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to an incident on North CR 475E, near the intersection of East Shore Park Road, Leesburg.
Upon arrival to the scene, the deputy spoke with a man who said he was driving north on North CR 475E when a Nissan Murano, driven by Akridge, overtook him in an aggressive manner with icy and snowy conditions on the road. The man said he flashed his high beams and honked his horn. Akridge applied his brakes and parked perpendicular to the man’s vehicle, blocking the lane of travel.
The man said Akridge got out of his vehicle and approached his vehicle. Akridge demanded the man roll his window down. The man rolled the window down and Akridge hit the man with a closed fist, causing pain and injury. The man’s lip was swollen and the deputy saw a laceration on the inside of his mouth, according to court documents.
Akridge returned to his vehicle and left. The man was able to take down Akridge’s license plate.
A North Webster Police Department officer drove to the address on the registration for the plate. The officer spoke with Akridge, who admitted to being involved in the incident, but said he only spoke with the man. He provided no further details.
The man was provided a six-person line up and positively identified Akridge as the driver who hit him.
