Bourbon Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash

A Bourbon man was killed in a one-vehicle accident.
According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, officials are investigating the fatal single motor vehicle crash that occurred on CR 300W, approximately a half mile north of CR 1350N in northwest Kosciusko County in Jefferson Township.
KCSO deputies and emergency personnel responded Wednesday at 8:10 a.m. to the crash. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and found a Toyota Prius overturned in a water-filled ditch.
The driver of the Prius, Derek T. Anderson 35, Bourbon, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries suffered in the crash by the Kosciusko County Coroner Tyler Huffer.
The release states Anderson was southbound on CR 300W and, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line, exited the east side of the road, where the vehicle hit a sign post and guardrail. The vehicle then rolled over, coming to rest on its top in the water-filled ditch.
KCSO was assisted at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Lutheran EMS, Milford police and fire departments, Nappanee Police Department, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Crouse Wrecker Service and Kosciusko County Dive Rescue.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT.
