Syracuse Man Arrested After Allegedly Impersonating Law Enforcement Officer

A Syracuse man was arrested after allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer.
David Michael Gregory, 48, of 53 EMS D22 Lane, Syracuse, is charged with impersonating a public servant, a level 6 felony; and harassment, a class B misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:10 p.m. Monday on a $7,500 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Dec. 29 a Warsaw Police Department officer responded to an alleged harassment complaint. The officer spoke with a woman who said Gregory called her and pretended to be a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office detective sergeant. The woman said she made it clear to Gregory she didn’t want him to call or communicate with her.
Gregory continued to message the woman and call her and used several different burner phones. The woman blocked multiple numbers used by Gregory.
The woman provided a voicemail dated Dec. 29. A man stated he was a detective with KCSO and KCSO apprehended Gregory and thought the woman would want to know.
The WPD officer contacted the detective named in the voicemail. The detective said he didn’t make that phone call.
A search warrant was obtained for a phone company and a WPD detective used the information provided to determine the voicemail impersonating the KCSO detective was left by Gregory on Dec. 29.
The WPD detective found 18 attempted phone calls from Gregory to the woman.
