Milford Man Arrested For Criminal Recklessness While Armed With A Deadly Weapon

A Milford man was arrested after allegedly firing a shotgun in the air two times.
Kyle James Najacht, 31, of 307 S. Higbee St., Milford, is charged with criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 6 felony; and possession of a firearm by a domestic batterer, a class A misdemeanor.
He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 7:40 p.m. April 18 on a $5,250 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on April 18 Kosciusko County Dispatch advised law enforcement of shots fired at a residence. The caller said Najacht discharged a firearm in the air while he argued with someone on the phone.
A Milford Police Department officer and two Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded. The MPD officer located two spent yellow 20-gauge shells in the front yard of the residence.
The officer spoke with the caller who said Najacht was arguing on the phone in the front yard and fired two rounds in the air. The caller provided a video. The officer reviewed the video, which allegedly showed Najacht was holding a shotgun. Najacht hugged a woman then walked into the residence with the firearm.
Law enforcement officers located Najacht, who admitted he discharged the shotgun two times. Najacht said it was a poor decision and said he was drinking. Najacht confirmed he was convicted for domestic battery and was not legally allowed to possess a firearm.
Law enforcement officers seized a shotgun and a box of 20-gauge ammunition that contained 18 rounds.
Najacht’s BrAC was 0.108% on a portable breath test.
Najacht was convicted of domestic battery in Kosciusko County on Jan. 6, 2021.
