Slate is slowly rolling out information about its EV truck plant coming to Warsaw at the former LSC Communications building on Old 30.
Tuesday, the new American company established in 2022 revealed three points.
First, the first Slate vehicles are expected to be produced in Warsaw in 2026.
Slate does plan to bring over 2,000 jobs to Warsaw. Slate will more than return the number of jobs lost when the factory was closed a couple years ago.
And, finally, Slate’s factory in Warsaw is part of Slate’s commitment to reindustrialization. Slate was founded on “a disruptive business model of simplifying the manufacturing process and reindustrializing America.”
The company formally revealed itself Thursday. On Friday, TechCrunch.com published an online story that Slate Auto was eyeing the former printing plant in Warsaw for its EV truck production.
As for the Slate truck, the company says it is “an innovative truck platform so customizable that it can transform from a two-seat pickup to a five-seat SUV.”

In June 2023, LSC Communications announced it was closing its doors at 2801 W. Old 30, Warsaw, by September and the closing would impact over 500 workers.
LSC Communications began in 2016 when R.R. Donnelley, the commercial print and logistics company, decided to divide its services into three separate companies, according to a past LSC website. In 2020, LSC was acquired by Atlas Holdings. LSC had two plants in Lancaster, Pa., which closed earlier in 2023.
