AKRON – Ruth Mathias, 89, Akron, died at 5:27 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.
Ruth was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Ohio, to Hal and Dorothy Haines Elson.
Following her wishes, no services will be held at this time. Her final resting place will be in the Riverside Cemetery of Montpelier, Ohio.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.

County Commissioners Say ‘No’ To Rezoning For Data Center
A data center won’t be coming to the Leesburg area anytime soon. By a 3-0 vote Tuesday, the Kosciusko County Commissioners upheld the Area Plan Commission’s 8-0 recommendation to deny rezoning over 500 acres from agricultural to industrial-3. The property is on the north side of CR 700N, west of CR 300W, in Prairie and Jefferson townships.
