County Opens Bids For Work In Justice Building

Bids were opened at Tuesday’s Kosciusko County Commissioners meeting for construction work in two offices at the Justice Building.
County Administrator Marsha McSherry said the bids for the public defender’s office construction and for separation walls for voter registration in the clerk’s office will be reviewed and then awarded on May 6.
County attorney Ed Ormsby opened the bids received from three vendors.
Schenkel Construction bid $100,139 for the public defender’s office. No bid was received for the clerk’s office.
Clint Davis Construction bid $48,208 for the separation walls and $72,370.99 for the public defender’s office.
The last bid from Robinson Construction was $14,394 for the first project; $37,524 for project 1B; and the base price for project 2 was $87,774, Ormsby said.
McSherry also presented the annual maintenance agreement with Advanced Products Group for the county’s phone system for $16,991.86. She said it’s a renewable contract, and the commissioners approved it.
Area Plan Director Matt Sandy presented a vacation and a rezoning to the commissioners, both of which were approved. There were no remonstrators to either case.
The vacation hearing was for Ryan Craft and Julie Martinez in the unincorporated town of Wooster. Sandy said it was for the last 50 feet of a platted road right-of-way within Wooster. Half of it has a garage in it. Sandy said the vacation will clean up a violation they can get off the books as well.
Attorney Steve Snyder, representing the petitioners, said every other part of the alley has been vacated. “This is the last spot. It doesn’t serve any purpose,” he said.
The rezoning was for Lyle Yoder to rezone 1.45 acres from agricultural to agricultural-2. The property is on CR 1150N. Sandy said the Area Plan Commission unanimously recommended the rezoning be approved.
Snyder said the rezoning helps clean things up.
