On April 15, Kosciusko Leadership Academy cadets presented their white paper projects at Lake City University during the annual Project Proud event.
Project titles include “Kosciusko County Housing Coalition,” “The Redevelopment of Winona Avenue,” “Re-Entry Simulator,” “Turn Up the Juice,” “Youth and the Outdoors,” “Kosciusko Community Services” and “Boomerang Backpack Program Funding for the Future.”
One project will be chosen to receive the annual Northenor Award cash prize of at least $1,000, which will be seed money for the winning project’s launch.
The KLA board thanks Lake City Bank for providing breakfast and the meeting space, and also thanks the panel of judges: Rich Haddad, K21 Health Foundation CEO; Rob Parker, Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce CEO; and Heather Reichenbach, Warsaw School Board president. Warsaw Mayor Jeff Grose was also in attendance.
A standing-room only crowd was on hand to support the KLA cadets and learn about these community development projects. Many community assets and amenities owe their beginnings to KLA whitepaper projects; all 43 years of whitepaper reports are archived on the KLA website at www.kosciuskoleadership.org.
KLA is in its 43rd year of service to the county. As an independent 501(c)3 organization, KLA conducts biweekly morning sessions around the county to expose leaders to a wide variety of local topics and experts. The annual whitepaper projects have yielded many benefits to the citizens of Kosciusko County.
