Lloyd Gustav Jilburg

Lloyd Gustav Jilburg, of Roanoke, Va., passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 12, 2025.
He was born on May 19, 1936, in Chicago, to the late Gust and Anna Helena Jilburg. Lloyd was a quiet servant of Christ and a member of Cave Spring Baptist Church.
After graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts, he served three tours in the United States Army from 1959 to 1963. After the Army he worked for Creative Engineering in Warsaw, designing commercial products. He then became a medical illustrator at DePuy, Inc. designing prosthetic devices for veterans and those in need. He continued this work until his retirement. Throughout his life and even in his retirement, Lloyd continued to create works of art that demonstrated his many artistic talents and shared them with others around him.
Lloyd was preceded in death by the “love of his life,” Edith M. Jilburg; their beloved poodle, Gigi; and niece, Annalisa Jilburg.
He is survived by his twin brother, Roy E. Jilburg; and his nephew, Erik K. Jilburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24 at Cave Spring Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., with Pastor Jon Rice and Pastor Chip Baggett officiating. Entombment, with Military Honors will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
