Karen S. Frankle
April 17, 2025 at 7:05 p.m.

Karen S. Croy Frankle, 78, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, after bravely fighting cancer four different times over the last 25 years.
Born in Hartford City, Karen was a daughter of the late Kenny and Alice Powell Croy. She graduated from Warsaw High School, class of 1965.
For 29 years, Karen worked as extracurricular treasurer and the principal’s secretary at Columbia City Joint High School. Later in life she spent tax seasons working alongside her daughter Michelle at H&R Block. She was always telling stories of the wonderful friendships she made at CCJHS and cherished the memories she built there.
Karen and Jim Frankle were married in 1965. They welcomed a son, Kevin (Merri) Frankle; and shortly thereafter added a daughter, Michelle (Jason) Krauskopf. Karen always had a warm smile and a hug for everyone. She enjoyed playing euchre, scrapbooking, traveling, and talking, talking and talking — and was happiest when surrounded by her people.
Karen especially loved attending all the events of her grandchildren, always showing up with pride and joy. On warm sunny days, she loved simply being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine and beauty around her.
More than anything, Karen loved her family and friends; her love was selfless. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
In addition to Jim, Kevin and Michelle, surviving are 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sharon Jernigan. Karen was preceded in death by her baby great-granddaughter, Annalee.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 with calling one hour prior also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenhill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given in memory of Karen to Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
