Genevieve “Jenny” L. Bushong, age 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully in her residence surrounded by her loving family on April 5, 2025.
She was born on Nov. 4, 1933, in Milford, to Gerald and Louise Smaltz Coy/Neer. On Nov. 28, 1954, she married Jon Bushong of Syracuse, who survives.
A lifelong resident of the Milford and Syracuse area, Jenny was a proud graduate of Milford High School, class of 1951. She worked for many years as an executive engineering and legal secretary at Chore-Time Brock in Milford, where she utilized her typing and shorthand skills.
Jenny was a devoted member of the Church of the Brethren in Milford, where she and Jon were married. She also attended Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Syracuse. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary 223 and VFW Auxiliary 1342 of Syracuse.
Her love of family, gardening, baking and crafting was evident to all who knew her. Jenny had a special talent for planting beautiful flowers and baking delicious treats, including her well-loved Apple Dumplings. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, and took great joy in their lives. Her devotion to always put others first will be greatly missed.

She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Preston Gose, Genevieve Gonderman, and baby Swain on the way. Jenny is further survived by many nieces and nephews and her brother, Reggie (Deb) Coy, of Chapman Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Lloyd Coy, Ermal Coy, Alan Coy, Jackie Coy and Sherrie Ochs.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Goshen Hospice for their exceptional care and to Amber, her dedicated caretaker, whose support made Genevieve’s passing a peaceful and comforting experience.
A Life Celebration visitation will be held on Thursday, April 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. A private graveside service will follow at a later date, where she will be laid to rest at Syracuse Cemetery.
