Marjorie “Marge” Janet Stewart, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 86, in the care of Paddock Springs of Warsaw.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1939, in Albany, Mo., to Mary Christine Fountain Ward and Horace Smith Ward. She graduated from Albany High School.
On Oct. 20, 1956, Marge married the love of her life and partner in everything they did together, Shannon Duane Stewart. They were blessed with raising their three sons, experiencing the joy of becoming grandparents and great-grandparents during their amazing 68 years of marriage together. They were great marital role models to many, especially their children. They always demonstrated a strong partnership built on commitment, respect, love and faith. They loved worshiping their Lord together, and being the early birds they were, often arrived before the greeters at Warsaw Community Church.
Marge worked throughout her life at First National Bank (PNC/National City Bank) and at Lake City Bank as a switchboard operator. Her favorite job was simply being Mom. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, always giving and sacrificial. Marge was a true giver for those in need, the first to offer help and was a soft-hearted person who was “always there” for others. She was a gifted hostess, a great cook, and there was always a plate at the dinner table for anyone who happened to drop by. Marge and Duane loved to entertain and enjoyed playing dominoes with several different groups. They traveled with friends to various places and truly loved the companionship of others. She loved coffee and many wonderful conversations were had with her friends and family as she sipped away.
Everyone loved Marge, a courageous, strong, beautiful soul, she was an absolute inspiration to everyone who knew her. She made a big impact on this world and spent her time on this earth living her life to the fullest and loving people in a great way.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Duane Stewart, Warsaw; three sons: Steve Stewart, Warsaw; Mike (Barb) Stewart, Albany, Mo.; and Scott (Jennifer) Stewart, Warsaw. Also surviving are her beloved five grandchildren: Joseph (Heather), Joshua, Samantha (Pat), Brandon (Gabby), Parker (Kailyn); 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold (Sue) Ward, Sweet Springs, Mo.; and two sisters, Marylon Courtney, Kansas City, Mo.; Kay (Ron) Wells, Kansas City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends and family are invited to share a time of visitation from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Marge’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, and officiated by Pastor Jeff Pfeifer of Warsaw Community Church. A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
