Warsaw Police Department issued a statement today, in collaboration with Warsaw Community Schools, that they have deemed there are no credible or direct threats to WCS.
In the statement, they say, “A safe and secure environment is the utmost priority of Warsaw Community Schools and local law enforcement and safety teams. This past week, there have been many rumors and false threats taking place state and nationwide. These false rumors have caused multiple disruptions to the school environment and local authorities.”
The safety of the students is taken seriously, the release says, and for this reason, additional police and safety resources are present in the schools, along with the school resource officers.
“Take this time to monitor and speak with your child about the proper use of social media. Please provide reminders that inappropriate comments, jokes or threats of violence are not acceptable and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the release continues. “Please remember if you see something, say something. We appreciate your support in helping to ensure a safe school community.”
WCS uses Safe School Helpline. To report a concern, visit warsawschools.org and click Safe School Helpline on the home page. You can also call 800-418-6423, Ext. 359, or text 614-426-0240 and type TIPS.
