Ora ‘Bud’ Troyer Jr.

Ora “Bud” Troyer Jr., age 90, formerly of Nappanee, died at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at Hubbard Hill Estates surrounded by family.
Bud was born on Feb. 18, 1934, in Chouteau, Okla., to Ora J. Sr. and Mattie Yoder Troyer. The family moved to Elkhart County from Oklahoma when Bud was 8 years old and he resided the rest of his life in the Elkhart County area. On March 9, 1957, Bud married Pebble Brown. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2014.
Bud served his country in the United States Air Force and he worked for many years at Fairmont Homes in Nappanee before retiring from Gulfstream Coach in Nappanee. He attended Nappanee Missionary Church. Bud was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially the many summer vacations they took over the years. Bud especially loved his many grandchildren.
He is survived by six children: Philip (Vykky) Honeycutt, of Nappanee; Kathy (Jerry) Ryman, of Nappanee; Debra (Mike) Kitson, of Denver, Colo.; Sandra “Sam” (Rick) Bainter, of Nappanee; Steve (Amy) Troyer, of Nappanee; and Tammy (Charlie) Slabaugh, of South Bend; 20 grandchildren: Mary (Brett) Haines, Kris (Mayumi) Honeycutt, Scot (Angie) Honeycutt, Adam Honeycutt, Andy Honeycutt, Christy Ryman, Corey (Sara) Ryman, Danielle (Jason) Rupp, Dustin Bussard, Delanie (Michael) Lewallen, Jennifer (Matt) Fischer, Ben (Megan) Bemiller, Zach (Brittany) Troyer, Matt (Esther) Troyer, Kyle Troyer, Katie (Logan) Lewton, Wes (Kyla) Troyer, Jordan Campbell, Mackenzie Campbell and Chase Heckaman; 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Anderson, of Goshen. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Susie Honeycutt; son-in-law, Don Bussard; granddaughter, Hannah Troyer; sister, Clara; and brothers: Perry “Pete,” Alvin, Abe, Rudy and Aaron.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19 at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel (enter door H) and a funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. also at the NMC Chapel. Pastor Jason Rohde of the Nappanee Missionary Church will officiate and burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
Memorial contributions in Bud’s name can be given to Southern Care Hospice.
