NIPSCO Rate Increase

Editor, Times-Union:
A 22% rate increase “is largely driven by continued investment in renewable energy.”
As a paying customer, I would rather not have to pay extra for inefficient and unreliable forms of energy.
I would like to propose a few questions to the IURC before they grant this increase.
Are there more efficient ways to generate the needed electricity?
How much energy does it take to manufacture solar panels and windmills?
What is the net energy generated considering the life of the panel or windmill?
How is energy generated when the sun doesn’t shine or the wind doesn’t blow?
Where do the materials come from to manufacture these devices?
How environmentally friendly is the manufacturing process?
What happens to these devices at the end of there useful life?
How much usable farm land will this require?
I am sure there are many more questions that need to be addressed before a 22% increase is approved but this is a good start.
