Denise A. O'Bryant, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home with her loving husband by her side on Sept. 1, 2024, at the age of 70.
Born in Elkhart on Aug. 12, 1954, to William "Billy B" and Fern "Lucy" George Bartlett, Denise was a nurturing presence in the lives of all who knew her. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1972 and dedicated her life to her family and community.
Denise's career began as a devoted homemaker where she skillfully raised her two children, Ben and Chevy. She extended her commitment to service through her employment at Walmart in Goshen, starting as a cashier before being promoted to department manager and later as a shipping clerk at Paragon until her retirement. Her unwavering work ethic and dedication were admired by colleagues and customers alike.
A loving personality defined Denise; she was a good mother and grandmother, always putting her family first. She volunteered at her children's school library and took on the role of team mother for all their sports games, exemplifying her relentless support. As a proud grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her grandsons, Kevin (Miranda) and Matthew Brodersen.
Denise's love for the outdoors was evident in her hobbies; she enjoyed camping, fishing and geocaching. An amateur ham radio fox hunter, she found joy in sharing her interests with her husband and others. Denise loved her animals and spent many delightful afternoons watching her dog swim in the creek, reveling in the beauty of nature.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ron; her son, Ben O'Bryant; daughter, Chevy (Mike) Brodersen; grandchildren: Kevin (Miranda), Katelyn and Matthew Brodersen; sisters, Brenda Emerson and Myra (Doug) Cors; and brother, Daryl Bartlett. Denise was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Barry Bartlett; and her brother-in-law, John Emerson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m., immediately followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
