Rochester Man Arrested After Domestic Dispute, Alleged Recklessness With A Gun

FULTON COUNTY - A Rochester man was arrested after a domestic dispute Tuesday.
At approximately 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a woman stating she needs help and dispatchers could hear someone yelling in the background before hanging up, according to a news release from the FCSO.
Deputies responded to an address in the 1800 North block on CR 600W, Rochester, where the call originated. They met the woman away from the address and spoke with her in which she explained this was a domestic violence situation. Deputies then proceeded to the residence and contacted the man, identified as Austin Jones, 22, Rochester.
During their interaction in the driveway near the road, Jones walked back toward the residence. Deputies then heard several gun shots, the release states. Multiple other officers responded to assist.
A short time later, Jones surrendered to deputies and he was taken into custody without further incident. Jones was taken for medical clearance at Woodlawn Hospital before being booked in the Fulton County Jail on the charges of criminal recklessness with a firearm, domestic battery, resisting law enforcement and intimidation.
Assisting the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office were Rochester Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
