Arlene Miller, of Pierceton, and formerly of Warsaw, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was born into a large family on July 17, 1936, in Burket, to Fern Elizabeth Warren and Claude Elsworth Swick. Arlene graduated from Burket High School in 1954. On Nov. 29, 1957, she married Melvin Joseph Miller and celebrated almost 50 years of marriage together before he passed away Aug. 10, 2006.
Arlene worked for 40 years at Jomac in Warsaw, where she was a longtime reliable employee. Later in her life, she worked as the activities director for Grace Village and at Miller’s Merry Manor and enjoyed her time with the residents. Her favorite job was simply being Mom, and she always kept busy keeping her home, cooking and raising her kids making sure they had everything they needed. Arlene was always a caring person and had a soft spot in her heart for animals and loved her dog dearly. She LOVED her family and was a wonderful grandma. Always there to lend a hand to help raise her grandchildren, making sure they got to school and had enough love for everyone. Arlene had a sharp mind and an excellent memory. She could tell you anything about anything and everyone. She will forever be loved and missed by her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Teresea (Pat) Engle, Warsaw; two sons, Tony L. (Tammi) Miller, Warsaw; Todd L. (Amy) Miller, Warsaw; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Marilyn (James) Collins, Rochester; and two brothers, David (Tammy) Swick, Warsaw; and Mark (Valorie) Swick, St. Petersburg, Fla. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
