Your Little Secret

Editor, Times-Union:
Donald Trump and Mike Johnson are not the only ones who can keep “little secrets” to themselves. Every American who votes has the ability to keep little secrets as well. Once a voter enters a voting space, his/her actions become secret actions. Those actions will remain anonymous for all eternity and will be counted appropriately.
Women: Vote for your right to control your own reproductive health care; vote to establish and solidify your equality at home, in the workplace, and as a citizen of your community and your country.
Men: Vote for the rights of all the women you love; vote to maintain your own dignity as a human being, an independent-thinking man, and a loyal supporter of your country and its Constitution.
Students: Vote for the freedom to learn everything you can about your country — the good, bad, and ugly; vote for the freedom to read whatever you choose in order learn and to find your path to becoming a good person and a good citizen; vote for the freedom to seek help and advice from whomever you deem to be the best source.
Seniors: Vote to keep your retirement plans intact —including income and health care; vote to maintain your dignity, your worth, your well-deserved place in society.
Veterans and current military personnel: Vote to maintain the respect and gratitude you so richly deserve; vote to be recognized for your service, your sacrifices, your loyalty, and your unselfish willingness to protect the rest of us — no matter what.
Teachers: Vote to restore the respect and admiration you have worked so hard to achieve; vote to keep public education a priority in our country; vote to set the record straight about what it is you really do every day of the year in and out of the classroom.
Everyone: Vote your heart and your conscience for what you know is right and true and good; vote for what is best for the future of your children, your grandchildren, the planet, the country; vote for unity, for freedom, for dignity, for love and for joy and for the rights of all people everywhere. Vote while you still have the right and freedom to vote any way you choose.
Your vote is your chance to make a difference. Your vote is personal. Your vote is your super power. Your vote is your secret.
