By Staff Report

Combined Community Services (CCS) is hosting their annual Food-A-Thon, a community-driven initiative aimed at addressing food insecurity among Kosciusko County residents.
The event is scheduled for Nov. 8 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CCS office, 1195 Mariners Drive, Warsaw.
Many households in the community are grappling with the stress of not knowing how they will feed their families from week to week, according to a provided news release. CCS currently has over 800 households visiting the food pantry each month, a number that is on the rise from 2023. Food-A-Thon and the CCS Food Pantry is a beacon of hope for these families, providing much-needed food supplies through the donations of community members, the release states.
Households who visit the pantry are coming in the aftermath of various struggles including inflation, loss of job, family crisis, addiction and health concerns.
Through Food-A-Thon, CCS aims to stock their pantry and bridge the gap in needed donations, ensuring that they can continue to serve the community effectively. Although the staff at CCS works hard to secure grants and donations, many times this year the food pantry shelves have become critically empty, and CCS has been desperate for community members to contribute.
CCS welcomes donations of any amount, with a request that all donations be unexpired or nonperishable goods. Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in someone's life in Kosciusko County. All donations received during the event will support the mission of CCS to assist neighbors in need in Kosciusko County.
Follow the Food-A-Thon on Facebook at facebook.com/@ccsgives so more people know how to get involved, according to the release.
