The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Merit Board invites the public to participate in a Kosciusko County Recovery Program meeting.
At a merit board meeting on Thursday, Sheriff Jim Smith discussed an opportunity for the public to learn about the Kosciusko County Recovery Program.
A Kosciusko County Recovery Program meeting will take place at the Zimmer Biomet Center Lake Pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. At the meeting, the public is invited to provide feedback on the program, as well as suggestions on what further action the program can take. Individuals are also welcome to share ways they can help.
Smith also noted he was "very proud" of the new Kosciusko County Recovery Program resource navigator, Shanna Wallen.
The merit board noted it's been busy with community engagement such as:
• Officers took part in the Nontraditional Employment for Women Workshop at Warsaw Community High School.
• Officers helped with an ongoing anti-bullying campaign at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School.
• Officers took a Kosciusko Leadership Academy tour last week.
• Officers are preparing for upcoming trick-or-treating.
• Officers also provided the following updates regarding the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office:
Some sheriff's office detectives and NET 43 detectives switched roles.
A communications tower is up and functioning in Sidney with no complaints.
South parking renovations are planned to be completed Nov. 15.
Detective Brian Nault administered "quite a few" polygraph tests recently, and his work was deemed accurate by a state police polygrapher.
The board approved a motion for the sheriff to get quotes for pension programs.
Third-party vendor Extra Duty Solutions will start providing services.
