At the Warsaw School Board meeting Tuesday, the board recognized DreamOn Studios for their valuable partnership.
Scott Greene, Warsaw Area Career Center (WACC) teacher, and Matt Deuel, executive producer and co-founder of DreamOn Studios, presented on the collaboration and were joined by WACC students Sutton Victa, Isaac Greene and Rex Arnold and 2024 graduate Taylor Drang, now studying digital media at Ball State University. The students shared how their favorite project made a real-life impact on local organizations, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.
During the recent Speaker Series event, the WACC Advanced Digital Media class and DreamOn Studios collaborated to produce a special podcast episode at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center. During the board meeting, the board and community were given an exclusive preview of a special podcast episode, which also featured highlights from Edgewood’s building-wide project-based learning unit. View the highlights at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A4e3es32kU.
The podcast featured Judy Rantz-Willman and Jennifer Huffman, daughter and granddaughter of Joe Rantz, as they discussed Joe’s life journey and his 1936 Olympic gold medal-winning rowing team. The episode connects Warsaw to the story behind the New York Times bestseller “The Boys in the Boat.”
Dr. David Hoffert, superintendent of WCS, along with Mason Geiger and Deuel, led the podcast with Judy and Jennifer. This episode features the local connection that inspired the creation of the New York Times best selling book. The audio podcast is available wherever you get your podcasts, and you can watch the video version on YouTube at https://youtu.be/8vt4axHyzN4.
This podcast project is part of a broader partnership with Greene’s Advanced Digital Media class and DreamOn Studios, which provides students with meaningful, real-world opportunities to enhance their video production skills with the industry experts at DreamOn. Through this partnership, students also have access to high-end studio equipment at DreamOn Studios.
WCS Superintendent Dr. Hoffert said, “We are extremely grateful to DreamOn and their team. They have dedicated time, knowledge and resources to Warsaw Community Schools students. This special sponsorship and collaboration enables our students to have top level real world experience with video and audio production.
Deuel said, “We are incredibly honored to have had the opportunity to capture such a powerful and historical story in partnership with Scott Greene and the talented students at Warsaw Community High School. This collaboration allowed us to not only document a pivotal moment in our community’s history but also inspire the next generation of storytellers. Working with these students has been a true privilege, and we’re excited to see how these experiences will shape their futures in media production.”
