Nappanee Man Killed In One-Car Crash

ELKHART COUNTY - A Nappanee man was killed Monday when his vehicle went off the road and hit a garage and barn.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, at about noon Monday, Christopher Manhardt, 21, Nappanee, was traveling south in a 2021 Chevrolet Camaro on CR 9, south of CR 44, in Elkhart County. The Camaro went off the road to the east, continuing southeast and hit a garage on the property on CR 9.
The car hit a cement barrier and continued on, hitting a barn, where it came to a rest.
Manhardt was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Camaro sustained damage all over, the release states.
The investigation is ongoing.
