Friday’s Fall Family Fun event Friday at Lucerne Park, 800 N. Park Ave., Warsaw, saw at least an estimated 1,000 people in attendance.
Stephanie Schaefer, recreation director for the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department, said there were hayrides, pony rides, bounce houses, a campfire with s’mores, a craft area and a fun photo booth. The night ended with “Elemental” being played on the monster screen in the amphitheater.
Another draw of the event were alpacas.
Scott Shelhart, of Shelhart Acre Farms in Claypool, brought two alpacas so people could pet them Friday. He said this is the third year Shelhart Acre Farms has brought out alpacas to the event.
The draw to the event was so kids can have fun and interact, play and feed the alpacas, he said.

“It’s stuff they haven’t seen all the time, so it’s something different they can see,” he said.
He said events like Friday is amazing for the community.
“The crowd here is amazing, how many people showed up here tonight,” Schaefer said.
She estimated well over 1,000 were at Friday’s event at about 7 p.m. She noted on a good night there is about 1,500 people who attend events like Friday’s, and by the end of Friday night she expected they would probably see about that many people.
There were shuttles going back and forth between Lucerne and Hire parks so people could park at Hire Park and still attend the Fall Family Fun event.
Friday’s event helps bring the community to enjoy a free, fun night in the park, as well as serving the community and letting people come out and enjoy their families, Schaefer said. Events like Friday’s is helping bringing people to make Warsaw a better place to live.
