November 25, 2024 at 12:20 a.m.
Lori Ann Spangle, of North Manchester, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 62. A courageous, strong, beautiful soul, she fought hard against her cancer, and is now rejoicing with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born on February 9, 1962, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Betty Ann Crothers and Meredith Lavon Parker. Lori moved with her family to Kosciusko County, Indiana, in 1975. At the young age of 18, Lori knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with a young man by the name of Bruce Douglas Spangle. They were married on September 27, 1980, and were blessed with 44 years of marriage together before she passed away.
Lori was known for being the steady rock for her family and friends, the one you could always depend upon. She wrapped you in love, gave you comfort and compassion in your weak moments, and wasn’t afraid to be honest with you and give you a stern talking to if you needed it. Her husband, boys and grandbabies (especially) were her pride and joy and greatest achievement. She loved them well and beyond measure. Her home was always full of her warm comforting love. You could feel it the moment you stepped inside.
Lori had no idle bone in her body. She kept her house and family organized. Her caring for others started at a young age. In high school she worked as a candy-striper at KCH. She worked at First National Bank in Claypool as a teller. She set that all aside to raise her boys. When her boys started school, she was a teacher’s aide and media specialist at Claypool Elementary where she spread her love to other kids as well. When Bruce took over the family business in 1996, she walked alongside him and ran the administrative side with perfection, while also being the interior designer guru helping their customers design their dream home. Lori worked alongside her sister, Peggy, as her right-hand woman for seven years at The Cake Lady helping with cake decorating and catering.
As her family grew, Lori stepped back from working at the Cake Lady to help care for her precious grandbabies, making sure they were wrapped in her love. She loved to teach them to cook and wanted them to know her family passed down traditions as well as build loving and new ones with them. She wanted each one of them to know how special they were to her. Her only regret was not enough time to make all the memories she wanted to make with them.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bruce D. Spangle (North Manchester); three sons, Nicholas (Michelle) Spangle (Warsaw); Drew (Adrienne) Spangle (North Manchester); and Corey (Chelsey) Spangle (Silver Lake). Also surviving are her beloved eight grandchildren, Austin Weiland, Wyatte Shepherd, London, Piper, Lyra, Brecken, Brayden and Henley Spangle. As well as two brothers, Tony (Sharon) Parker (Waveland); Tom (Tracy) Parker (Warsaw); and four sisters, Karen (Doug) Foulks (New Haven); Janet Eherenman (Warsaw); Peggy Roulo (Orlando, Fla.); and Patty Wolfe (Warsaw). She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 3 – 8 p.m. at Sweetwater Assembly of God, 2551 IN-114, North Manchester, Indiana. Lori’s life will be celebrated with a service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Sweetwater Assembly of God and officiated by Pastor Jeremy Jones and assisted by Pastor Chad McAtee.
