Apology For Resisting

November 25, 2024 at 1:35 a.m.

Editor, Times-Union:
To all the arresting officers on this case, specifically Zachary Smith,
I want to formally apologize to all of the arresting officers from the night that I was arrested on Jan. 26, 2024.
My actions were irresponsible and I risked each officer’s safety. I deeply regret my action and I’m taking full responsibility for my crimes. I am taking steps to better myself and learning new coping mechanisms instead of turning to alcohol. That day was a very emotional day for me. My father passed away two years ago and Jan. 26 was his birthday.
I have now learned to cope and grieve with his death with these coping mechanisms. I am ashamed and embarrassed and truly sorry for this. I have been sober since June 14 and I intend to stay that way.
So, again, I apologize for my poor decision on resisting and putting all the officers at risk of their safety.
