A North Webster man was killed in a one-vehicle accident this morning on Old 30, approximately 220 feet east of Old Trail Road in Washington Township.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies and emergency personnel responded at 7:54 a.m. today to the crash, according to a news release from the KCSO. Upon arriving at the scene, emergency personnel found a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup truck, pulling an enclosed trailer, was involved in the crash.
The pickup truck was driven by Christopher L Rinehart, 44, North Webster.
Preliminary investigation determined that Rinehart was traveling west on Old 30 and was proceeding through a curve. For an unknown reason, Rinehart’s vehicle left the north side of the road, came back on the road and then proceeded across the eastbound lanes, according to the KCSO release. The vehicle continued down a ditch on the south side of the road, hitting a tree.
Rinehart was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries suffered in the crash by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
KCSO was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton Fire Department, North Webster EMS, Lutheran EMS, Crouse Wrecker Service and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County FACT.
