WINONA LAKE – A crowd gathered next to Letterwood, 802 Park Ave., Winona Lake, Saturday to see the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony put on by The Village at Winona.
Two Jefferson Elementary School students were chosen to participate in the tree lighting ceremony, Layla and Joselyn.
Nick Hauck, managing director of The Village at Winona, said Saturday’s event was super busy. They ran out of ornaments for ornament making about 5:15 p.m., as well as hot chocolate and cookies. About 650 cups were passed out, “so there’s a lot of people here tonight.”
He said this year was busier than previous years, “I think the weather definitely helps out when it’s 50 degrees out, so 50 degrees and nice definitely helps.”
The Christmas tree-lighting ceremony kicks off the holiday season for Winona Lake and is The Village’s Hallmark movie moment.
Before the Christmas tree-lighting, there was also a collection of toys for Toys for Tots, kids ornament making at Brick Alley Pavilion, train rides for all ages in the Letterwood brick paver parking lot and Christmas carolers throughout The Village at Winona.
