The Kosciusko Board of Zoning Appeals heard numerous requests during a nearly five-hour meeting on Tuesday.
The cases which had the most people there for them were ones brought by Brad and Cynthia Quinn for property at 12366 N. Kings Drive, Syracuse. The couple’s request for an exception for duplexes as well as a variance for parking spaces for the buildings was ultimately denied by the BZA.
At the meeting, the BZA also:
• Approved requests from Martin Zeitler for property at 9729 N. Marine Key Drive, Syracuse. He asked to allow a deck to remain as placed 24 feet from the water's edge and an air conditioner to remain 6 feet, 2 inches from the east sideline and generator to remain 3 feet, 10 inches from the east sideline.
• Approved a request from Kiely Culberson on behalf of Joyland Mobile Home Park, 103 E. Fourth St., North Webster. The BZA agreed to allow park residents to continue putting sheds in the park, which don't meet setback requirements in a residential district, but noted they wanted to add a statement they were concerned about a greater fire hazard with the buildings.
• Continued a request from Phillip Harshman for property at 7735 W. Camabraw Park Lane, Akron, as Harshman believes a required survey was done wrong. He's seeking permission for a home to stay 5 feet from the westerly line, 7 feet from the easterly line and 33.83 feet from the road right of way.
• Approved requests from Jacy Hoeppner for property at 5996 N. 450E, Leesburg. He will put a guesthouse on his property 25 feet from the road right of way. The board asked that Hoeppner agree to not sell the guesthouse apart from the main property in the future.
• Approved a request from Judith Routh for property at 4 EMS W31A Lane, North Webster. She is rebuilding a garage attached to her home, 1 foot from an access easement and 15 feet from the westerly right of way, that was damaged in a fire.
• Approved a request from Clarence Boring to allow a home to be in an existing agriculture building in an agriculture district as long as he gets the proper permit. The property is on the east side of CR 600W and 825 feet south of CR 1150S in Seward Township, near Silver Lake.
