Larry Dean Gibson, of Claypool, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at his home at the age of 70. His greatest life lesson he shared with others was simply, “Put your whole trust in Jesus!”
He was born on February 28, 1954, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Greathel (Johnson) and Earl Gibson. Larry was a 1973 graduate of Warsaw High School. Larry married the love of his life, Cheryl Spangle, on July 29, 1977, in Silver Lake, Indiana. They were blessed with three children and 10 grandchildren. They would have celebrated their 47th anniversary this year.
He was a hard-working man his entire life and worked as a machinist for over 40 years, having worked at DePuy and Clausings in Warsaw. Larry enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, camping and, of course, yard work. He always enjoyed relaxing by watching his westerns and science fiction movies.
Larry dearly loved his family, his most treasured accomplishments were his children and grandchildren. He was a proud dad and was very involved with his childrens’ activities. He loved his new role as a grandfather, especially time spent playing with his grandkids. He was a strong family advocate instilling Godly values in his children and grandchildren. He will forever be loved and remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cheryl Gibson (Claypool, Ind.); two sons, Isaac (Malynda) Gibson (Seymour, Tenn.); Lucas (Amber) Gibson (Akron, Ind.); and daughter, Amanda (Travis) Shively (Tippecanoe, Ind.). Also surviving are his beloved 10 grandchildren, Olivia, Ethan, Camden, Trake, Chase, Landon, Noah, Anica, Valerian and Ayla; mother, Greathel Gibson (Warsaw, Ind.); brother, Don (Cheryl Jo) Gibson (Knoxville, Tenn.); two sisters, Carol (Jim) Savage (Warsaw, Ind.); and Samantha (Mark) Young (Mentone, Ind.). He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Gibson, stepfather, Sam Gibson and his brother-in-law, Don Hall.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Larry’s life with an open house where they can share their memories from 4 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. He will be buried at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Memorial donations may be directed to New Beginnings Church and World Outreach, 741 E Winona Ave, Warsaw, IN 46580; or to Stillwater Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN 46581-1196.
