Irene Hodges, age 91 of Warsaw, passed away on May 27, 2024, surrounded by her family at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
She was born to Harry and Beda Peterson on Feb. 17, 1933, in Fosston, Minn. She married Charles Hodges Sr. on Feb. 2, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minn.
She was a dedicated homemaker known for her caring nature towards her family. She was a graduate of Fosston High School class of 1951.
Throughout her life, Irene found joy in various hobbies and pastimes. She was an avid fan of crossword puzzles and enjoyed traveling across the country. Her artistic talents were showcased through her ceramic work, sewing projects, and passion for arts and crafts. Irene cherished the spirit of holidays, especially Christmas, and had a soft spot for country western music and game shows.
She is described as a "busy bee" by those who knew her best. Irene's nurturing personality shone brightly in her role as a den mother for the Cub Scouts for many years. Her dedication to shaping the lives of young individuals left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In mourning her loss, Irene is survived by her beloved family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories created with this remarkable woman. She is survived by Charles Hodges Sr.; children: Valerie (John) Thiesen of Warsaw, Chuck Hodges of Warsaw, Joseph (Cheryl) Hodges of Bowlingbrook, Ill., Michael (Wendy) Hodges of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Kara, Janel, Steven, Alexandra, Mark, Sarah, Stephanie, Natasha and Olivia. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. She is survived by sisters, May Jensen of Alexandria, Minn., and Hazel Erickson of Hotsprings, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Anne Tauber, Grace Larson and Eva Mallinson.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 1, 2024, at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan St., Warsaw, IN 46580. Her funeral will begin at noon to honor and remember a life well-lived. The service will be led by Rev. Bill Carney of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center St., Warsaw, IN 46580.
