Chimp’s Comix Completes 20th Annual Food Drive For The Salvation Army

May 24, 2024 at 6:23 p.m.

Chimp’s Comix & Video Games of Warsaw collected 2,414 items on Free Comic Book Day, a national event held on May 4.
Free Comic Book Day originated in 2002 but the idea of collecting food to help others through The Salvation Army was started in 2004 making this the 20th Annual event in Warsaw. Each customer received two free comics and then one for each food item they brought in.
“We want to thank Nick Kelly, owner of Chimp’s, and the staff and volunteers who have made this event possible over the years,” said Envoy Ken Locke, Salvation Army Administrator. “Our number of requests are up so this food will help us to meet the demand.” The event is held annually on the first Saturday in May.
