Stamp Out Hunger Collects 5,200 Pounds Of Food

The "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive", collected 5,200 pounds of food on May 11.
The event is held the second Saturday in May annually by the United States Postal Service, National Rural Letter Carriers' Association and National Association of Letter Carriers in the United States. The event strives to make significant donations of food to organizations serving needy persons.
The first event was held in 1993 in Warsaw with this 31st event supporting the food pantries of Combined Community Services, Our Father's Pantry and The Salvation Army, according to a news release from The Salvation Army. All three services are experiencing increases in requests for food according to Envoy Ken Locke, administrator of The Salvation Army, and event coordinator with the Warsaw Post Office.
"On behalf of all three agencies we greatly appreciate all the food received during this event," Locke said. "We really appreciate the Postal workers going above and beyond their duties to make this happen!"
