BURKET – Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation announced the commencement ceremony of the Burket Educational Center Class of 2024, which was held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the historic gymnasium.
The Burket Educational Center, a beacon of hope for students facing challenges in the traditional high school setting, played a role in supporting the graduating class on their journey to success. Founded with a mission to provide tailored educational opportunities for students who may have struggled in conventional environments, the Center embraces diversity and offers a second chance for academic achievement, according to a news release from TVSC.
"Here at the Burket Educational Center, our mission goes beyond merely facilitating graduation. We are committed to nurturing the potential of every student and equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in life," said Micah Lukens, alternative education teacher at Burket Educational Center. "Our approach caters to a diverse range of students, including those behind on credits, facing disciplinary issues, managing independent lives or balancing parenthood with education. Regardless of their circumstances, our goal remains to empower each student to graduate and pursue their dreams confidently."
The graduation ceremony was a celebration of students’ achievements, with families, friends, faculty and staff coming together to honor the hard work and dedication of the graduates, stated the release.
