BOURBON – Francis Gerald Anderson, 90, of Bourbon, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, in his home.
Gerald was born to Moscoe Lambert and Clara Adams Anderson on Jan. 23, 1934, in Pound, Va.
He graduated from Pound High School where he played football. He also took military college courses. He served in the United States Army Special Forces as a paratrooper.
He married Marilyn Lutes on Feb. 9, 1957, in Fort Wayne, and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2018.
He worked as a lineman high wire and supervisor for Argos Utilities until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Atwood Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and he was a Freemason. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and his little dog, Pippi.
Gerald will be dearly missed by his daughters, Sonia and Lonny Berkey, of Bourbon; Sallie and Michael Chapman, of Bourbon; his grandchildren: Race and Kristen Berkey with their children: Delanie, Kamden and Racelyn; Brandon and Lily Chapman with their children: Isla and Jett; Tate and Lena Chapman with their children: Haley, Mason and Blake; his sister, Peggy Shepherd, of Berea, Ky.; his brothers: Charles (Sandy) Anderson, of Pound, Va.; Michael Rose, of Pound, Va.; and Jeffrey Rose, of California.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn Anderson; his son, Jeffrey; his sisters: Garnell Anderson, Shiela Ulmer, Lena Keith and Duran Anderson; and his brother, James Cullen Anderson, who passed at 3 months of age in Pound, Va.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. A funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Brian Hasse officiating. Burial will take place at Stony Point Cemetery, Etna Green, with a military graveside service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bourbon American Legion, 202 S. Main St., Bourbon.
