Diane Lee Pifer, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, at the age of 81.
She was born on March 30, 1943, in Warsaw, to Annabelle Henline Alexander Stump and Fred Alexander. She also had a stepfather, Danny Habegger.
Diane grew up in Pierceton, where she was a 1961 graduate of Pierceton High School. She spent many years working at R.R. Donnelley in Warsaw as a re-toucher. Over the years, she created many new friendships with her work family until she retired in 2002. Diane had many dear friends and enjoyed a busy and active life. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw where she enjoyed being part of several Bible studies. Diane was a loving and kind person who will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Raeann K. Rice, Warsaw; two sons, Karl C. Wood, Winona Lake; Martin A. Wood, Warsaw; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Edd (Cheryl) Habegger, Warsaw; sister-in-law, Kathy Alexander, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Julia Mazelin; and three brothers: George Alexander, Kelly and Michael Habegger; and her nephew, Marc Alexander.
Diane’s life will be celebrated with a service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1720 E. Center St., Warsaw, and officiated by Rev. Bill Carney. A graveside service will follow at Nolt Cemetery in Columbia City. Friends and family are invited to visit prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
