BOURBON – Diane L. Walter, 75, of Tippecanoe, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in her home.
Diane was born to Russell and Letha Ensign Krill on Feb. 27, 1949, in Bryan, Ohio. She graduated from Edgerton High School in 1967 in Edgerton, Ohio. She went on to graduate from Great Lakes Christian College in 1971 with a degree in music and Christian education. She grew up on the family farm until her graduation. She enjoyed playing on the family farm with her best friend, Shirley Kimpel, who married Diane’s brother, Darwin Krill.
Diane married Michael Walter on Nov. 18, 1983, and they resided on their farm in Tippecanoe for 40 years. She worked for Triton School Corporation as a substitute teacher for eight years, then as a speech therapist for 22 years until her retirement in 2012. She was a member of Etna Green Church of Christ. She served in several church ministries, as well as playing piano at Etna Green Church of Christ since 1984. She enjoyed collecting many things, she liked purple and lots of bling, enjoyed playing many instruments, loved garage sales, Dollar Tree, QVC, riding golf carts down the farm lane, sharing her life with many friends and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved people, never knew a stranger, and loved the Lord with all her heart.
Diane is survived by her husband, Michael Walter, of Tippecanoe; her daughter, Megin (Timm) Chickering, of Bourbon; her sons: Shane (Erica) Hargrave, of Mount Dora, Fla.; Brian (Lisa) Walter, of Kendallville; Brad (Jane) Hargrave, of Tippecanoe; her 12 grandchildren: Rachael, Riley (Annie), Emily (Mark), Luke, Ella, Jayden, Taytum, Callie, Gabriella, Gracelynn, Zechariah, Isaiah; one great-grandchild, Beckham, along with two more great-grandchildren to be; her sister, Denise (Kevin) Harrell, of Grand Ledge, Mich.; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Krill.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Darwin Krill.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 11 a.m. at the Etna Green Church of Christ, 206 W. Broadway St., Etna Green, with Pastor Jordan Ickes officiating. The burial will follow at Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green.
