BOURBON – Joseph LaChance, 76, of Etna Green, passed away on May 1, 2024, in his home.
Joseph was born on March 4, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Marion Hopkins LaChance.
He married Linda Christensen on Sept. 12, 1970, at Selden Bible Church in Selden, N.Y. He pastored at Ames Heights Church, Lansing, W.Va.; Charter Oak Community Church in Churubusco and Hepton Union Church in Nappanee. He served in the Air Force from 6/29/1967 to 2/7/1969. Part of that time he served in Cambodia and Vietnam. His education included a high school scientific diploma from the state of New York, Central Islip High School in 1966. In 1979, he licensed to Preach the Gospel in West Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York in 1985 and a certificate of biblical studies from Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, in 1988. He was a member of the Country Church in Bourbon. He enjoyed gathering with friends to create game reenactments of historical wars, making miniatures and soldiers and attending Friday morning breakfast club.
Joseph will be missed by his wife, Linda LaChance, of Etna Green; his son, Joseph LaChance, of New Hampshire; his sisters: Michelle (David) Flynn, of Milford; Marian (Clyde) Kissell, of Leesburg; Patricia (James) Urban, of Fort Wayne; his brother, Robert (Marcia) LaChance, of Michigan; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette; his parents, Joseph and Marion; his sister, Barbara; and his niece, Jeanine.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 8 at 2 p.m. in the Country Church, 2951 E. 9B Road, Bourbon, with Pastor Aaron Talbert officiating. Gathering for the service may begin at 1 p.m. Military honors will be performed by the Warsaw American Legion.
Burial will take place in Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green, followed by a dinner at the Country Church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Country Church, 2951 E. 9B Road, Bourbon.
