WCS' Chess Teams Compete At Ind. State Championships

Warsaw Community Schools announced the achievements of their chess teams at the Indiana State Chess Team Regional and Indiana State Chess Team Championship.
On Feb. 24, the Madison “third-grade-and-under” chess team secured a third-place finish at the Regional competition in Goshen. This performance not only earned the team a trophy for their school but also individual trophies for each member. Their success has led them to qualify for the Indiana State Chess Team State Championship, which took place on March 23 in Hammond, according to a news release from WCS.
In addition to Madison, the "third-grade-and-under" teams from Jefferson, Lincoln and Washington; along with the "sixth-grade-and-under" teams from Jefferson, Lincoln, Madison and Washington; and Edgewood's team, also secured their spots in the state championship.
In total, the Indiana State Chess Team Championship saw nine teams from Warsaw participating, with three of these teams placing in the top ten in the state. Competing in the “third-grade-and-under” section, Lincoln secured ninth place, Madison fifth place and Washington third place.
