Parkview Whitley Hospital Family Birthing Center is relocating to the new Parkview Kosciusko Hospital this fall.
“Parkview Health continues to focus on creating long-term access to high-quality care for moms and babies in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio,” according to a statement from Dr. Tom Miller, physician executive for Parkview’s Women’s & Children’s Service Line. “With the goal of ensuring that Parkview can provide the best care to the greatest number of families, the Parkview Whitley Hospital Family Birthing Center will be relocated to the new Parkview Kosciusko Hospital ... tentatively scheduled for Sept. 1.”
Parkview Physicians Group (PPG) – OB/GYN will remain open to offer a full scope of gynecology care in Whitley County, as well as pre-natal and postpartum OB services. PWH’s emergency department will also remain equipped to care for pregnant women who may be experiencing a medical emergency.
Miller stated PPG is working with all expecting mothers to coordinate any potential changes to their delivery care plan. After the relocation, patients will have the option to deliver at PKH or other nearby Parkview Family Birthing Centers.
All PWH co-workers have been offered roles at PKH or elsewhere within the health system.
The new PKH Family Birthing Center will feature seven labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms, as well as two outpatient/triage rooms when it opens this fall.
According to channel 15’s website at wane.com, Parkview Health closed two rural birthing centers in 2023.
Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw also offers maternity care.
Earlier this month, Parkview Health and Ortho NorthEast (ONE) announced they are bringing a new orthopedic ambulatory surgery center and medical office building to Warsaw. The new facility will be located on a currently vacant lot on CR 200N, just north of Parkview Kosciusko Hospital.
After recently completing an expansion that doubled the size of the former Parkview Warsaw, the new Parkview Kosciusko Hospital opened to the public in January. Parkview also opened a new occupational health and shared employer clinic on Mariners Drive in November.
