CLAYPOOL – At Tuesday night's meeting, Claypool Town Council renewed the Clay Township fire protection for $10,000 to include only sewer and not water service from the town, and discussed options for spring cleanup.
The only trash bid for spring cleanup is with Borden, who could offer door-to-door pickup. Council is considering door-to-door pickup instead of dumpsters, but Borden would not be able to schedule the cleanup days until the first or second week of June.
Town attorney Andrew Grossnickle said he plans to talk with Tyler Coffel, of Baker Tilly Consultants, to move funds from the sale of the water utility to the general fund. Grossnickle is still looking into a video conference policy, local voting districts and the possibility of a prayer at the start of council meetings, and will report back on these items in April.
In other business:
• The town is purchasing three mobile home park lots back from the family who purchased but did not use them. The lots are $1,950 total.
• Council approved a preventative maintenance contract with J&K Communications for $875 per year to check the siren and replace batteries when needed.
• Grave decorations must be taken down by April 1 and can be replaced starting May 1.
- Council President Benny Stage Jr. said work has begun on the town's strategic plan for the next three to five years.
The council will next meet at 7 p.m. April 16.
