Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Director Stephanie Schaefer has a new assistant.
At its meeting on Tuesday, the Warsaw Parks and Recreation Board heard that news from Superintendent Larry Plummer.
The Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety hired Lynnae Miller as Schaefer's assistant at its meeting on March 15. She replaces Heather Vogts, who left to take a job at Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory.
"We're very excited to have Lynnae as part of our team," said Plummer. "She's fitting right in. She had her first program that she ran today, and she comes to work with a smile on her face."
"I'm very thankful for her," said Schaefer. "I think we're going to be a good team and be able to plan lots of good stuff for our community."
Plummer also gave a brief update to the board on working on pickleball noise sound mitigation at Kelly Park in response to a resident's complaint.
He said the Board of Works approved spending $1,100 to pay Pickleball Sound Mitigation Consulting LLC to do a study and render an opinion on reducing noise.
"Within two to three weeks, they expect to be down here and perform that. So, hopefully, by next meeting, we'll have some sort of report to give to you," said Plummer.
In other business, the board:
• Approved allowing Warsaw Community Schools to run its summer lunch program offering free meals to those 18 and younger at Bixler Park.
• Heard that employee Rob Moyer had won the department's "High Five Award" for February. Plummer said "the award was based on exceptional contributions to the team, fostering an environment of inspiration and motivation ... and the ability to bring a positive vibe with a high five."
• Heard that the artists for the free summer rock and country concerts at Central Park will be announced April 1.
The board's next meeting is 5:15 p.m. April 16 at Warsaw City Hall.
