A Warsaw woman was taken to the hospital after allegedly hitting a vehicle with her bicycle Monday.
According to the Warsaw Police Department accident report, at about 6:29 p.m. Monday a WPD officer responded to a bicyclist versus motor vehicle accident at the intersection of East Old 30 and East U.S. 30.
Norman J. Zile Jr., 52, Columbia City, said he was stopped at the intersection in a white 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. He said when the light turned green, he began to drive west on U.S. 30. Out of the corner of his mirror, Zile saw a bicyclists hit his vehicle in the rear driver side tire area, causing a collision.
The bicyclist, Amanda L. Cantwell, 39, Clinic Court, Warsaw, said while bicycling north across East U.S. 30 from the access road, she thought she could make it across the intersection before westbound traffic started going. She said she hit Zile’s driver side rear, causing a collision.
Cantwell was taken to Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital by medical for further medical review. She complained of head pain.
