Rosa Lee Nelson Shepherd, 82, of Warsaw, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at home.
Rosa was born on Feb. 28, 1942, in David, Ky., to Wiley and Martha Shepherd Nelson. She attended Prestonsburg High School but had to make the decision before her senior year to drop out, in order to be home and take care of her younger siblings.
She retired from Osborn Manufacturing in 1981, all the while being a loving housewife and mother. She adored animals, enjoyed cleaning and cooking for her family.
Rosa was a member of the Dotson Pentecostal Church in Prestonsburg for many years. She loved Bill Gaither and the Homecoming Singers, the Eagles and doo wop and southern gospel music. She would be found doing crossword puzzles or watching reality TV or game shows. Rosa loved people and would always do more for others than herself. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild was her ultimate joy.
She is survived by her children: Melissa (Chandler) Chapman, of Atwood; Paul Shepherd, of Columbia City; and Michael (Crystal) Shepherd, of Warsaw; grandchildren: Andrew and Trevor Kelley and Justina Rose Shepherd; great-granddaughter, Raven Rose Smith; and siblings: Charlie (Ruth) Nelson, Nancy (Marvin) Jones and Judy (Randall) Calhoun, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; daughters Lesa and Tamara Shepherd; four brothers and two sisters.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to Animal Welfare League, 1048 S. 325 E., Pierceton, IN 46562
