Rolland Shepherd, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Rolland was born on Dec. 15, 1945, in David, Ky., to Robie and Sadie Helton Shepherd. His family moved to Kosciusko County, where Roland would grow up and make a home for himself.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. He was a member of the Warsaw American Legion Post #49.
In Packerton on May 5, 1973, Rolland took Judy Prater as his wife. She passed away April 13, 2014.
Rolland was a collector of records, comic books, sports cars and baseball cards. He was a NASCAR fan and loved his cats.
He worked for Kinder Manufacturing in Warsaw as a mattress maker. He was a member of the Free United Baptist Church in Sidney and attended Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Warsaw.
Rolland is survived by his brother, Goble (Wera) Shepherd, of Warsaw; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his wife, Judy; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Glen Hughes. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Welfare League, 1048 S. 325 E. Pierceton, IN 46562.
