BOURBON – Rex A. Young, 72, of Bourbon, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2024, in his home.
Rex was born on Nov. 26, 1951, to Marvin and Eleanor Woodcock Young in Warsaw. He lived in Bourbon all his life and graduated from Triton High School in 1970. He married Judy Bachtel on Feb. 14, 1987. He was a farmer, a truck owner/operator and he worked for Shell Inc. of Bourbon, and R.R. Donnelley’s of Warsaw. He was a member of the Bourbon Fire Department. He was often known as “Mr. Fix-it.” He enjoyed farming, restoring pedal tractors, cement demolition, camping, farm shows, antique power shows, making clocks, having coffee with friends, John Deere tractors and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Rex is survived by his wife, Judy Young; his daughters, Stacy Cripps, of Bourbon; Leah Young and significant other, Walter Ortiz, of Bourbon; his sons: Chad Young, of Bourbon; Josh Brown, of Tippecanoe; Jason (Jaime) Brown, of Lafayette; his 15 grandchildren: Stanley (Addis) Cripps, Ryley (Michael) Phelps, Courtney (Tyler) Palmer, Nakayla Rodriguez, Mathias Young, Tristan Young, Cheyenne Young, Shawn Young, Oliver Young, Alexander Brown, William Brown, Gavin Brown, Cameron Brown, Nolan Brown, Evelyn Brown; and his 10 great-grandchildren.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eleanor Young; his brothers, Kent Young (9/13/2013); Dennis Young (9/12/2022); his daughter, Jennifer Young (10/15/1985); his son-in-law, Vyron Cripps (10/21/2013); and his maternal in-laws, Harold and Phyllis Bachtel.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Faith First Fellowship Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at Faith First Fellowship Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, with Pastor Kenneth Cooke officiating. A burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith First Fellowship Church, 204 N. Washington St., Bourbon, IN 46504; or to the Bourbon Tractor Ride.
