Tina said their business plan started when Steve started competing in Steak Cookoff Association events in 2019. Shortly after Steve began participating in SCA events, Tina followed suit.
Steve and Tina both have won several awards at the events they've competed at.
"Along the way, we met all of these people who created all these rubs and seasonings, very good people, very good product," said Tina.
The couple began selling rubs and seasonings online in 2023, and then decided to open a storefront. Uppercut Prime Meats sells meats, rubs, seasonings, smokers and assorted grilling products. Meat selections will include steak, pork, chicken and brats.
The Hughes said their goal with the store is to bring good meat to the community at affordable prices.

Uppercut Prime Meats and Grilling Supplies is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and will more than likely be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays as well.
